5 Fall-inspired NYC Team Outings
Fall means color-changing leaves, sweater weather, and the return of the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte. Why not embrace autumn and plan one of these fall-inspired NYC team outings?
1. Go Apple Picking
Escape the city and spend a sunny afternoon picking your own apples at a local orchard. This team-friendly tradition comes hand-in-hand with other seasonal activities like pumpkin picking and racing through a corn maze. Just make sure you leave some time to grab cider, doughnuts and other goodies from the country store! Check out Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard, it’s a little over an hour car ride from the city.
Rather not make a trip out of the city? Check out Wassail in the Lower East Side. Its menu features apple-based cocktails and over 90 different types of hard cider. Too many to choose from? Try a cider flight!
2. Attend a Sporting Event
Grab tickets to a game and cheer on your favorite local team. You can get to know your own team on a more personal level and bond over your love of sports. Don’t want to wait in line for overpriced hot dogs and beer? Hit up a sports bar like Tonic Times Square or Iron Bar & Lounge to watch the game.
3. Visit a Local Vineyard
Plan a trip to a local vineyard and schedule a tour and tasting. You can swirl and sip your way to becoming a wine connoisseur. Make sure to snag a bottle to take home so your team can impress their friends with their new wine expertise. Check out Brooklyn Winery - tours and a tasting experience are currently $35 - $10 off the standard price!
4. Check out the Fall Foliage
For more active teams: grab some sturdy shoes, pack a water bottle and set off on a hiking adventure. Breakneck Ridge is a popular city escape with breathtaking views of the Hudson River and great foliage viewing. Certain parts of the trail are extremely strenuous, so come prepared to break a sweat!
Want the views without the work? Plan a hot air balloon ride. Above the Clouds is about an hour and a half drive from the city and offers early morning and evening flights, weather permitting. Float over the Lower Hudson Valley and get a birdseye view of the changing leaves and beautiful scenery. Upon landing, you’ll have a champagne toast and be sent home with photos to commemorate your adventure!
5. Learn to Cook Fall Dishes
Sur la Table offers some fun, hands-on fall-inspired cooking classes. Here are just a few of the courses they offer: “Amazing Autumn Macarons,” “Fall Risotto Workshop,” "Autumn Pies & Tarts,” and “Delicious Fall Soups.” Have professional chefs show you and your team the tricks of the trade and create your own culinary masterpieces! Bon appetite!
