December means holiday cheer and holiday spirits! Nothing beats curling up on a cold day with a hot beverage, and hey, adding a little something extra to that hot cocoa never hurt anybody. If peppermint schnapps and hot chocolate isn’t your thing, never fear, there are plenty of other fun and festive cocktails to please you. And for all our Chicago city dwellers, we’ve got a short list of restaurants and Chicago bars with festive cocktails that you’ll fa-la-la-la-fall in love with this holiday season.

Festive Holiday Cocktails

Nestled inside Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, Allium is a spot that shouldn’t be skipped. This American restaurant focuses on locally sourced ingredients to deliver bold flavors in the kitchen and behind the bar. Breakout festive drinks include: their Pumpkin Pie Cocktail (Stoli vanilla, white godiva, housemade pumpkin spice), a Spiced Cider, and a Sapphire Cobbler (Bombay Sapphire, blackberry, lemon, chai).

Commons Club

The circle bar at the Commons Club

Commons Club is a globally-inspired restaurant inside the Virgin Hotel. Be sure to stop by for the Tall Glass Of… (Hennessy Cognac, Bacardi 8 Rum, Blackberries, White Chocolate) and seek refuge from the cold with the Warm to the Touch (Rhinehall Plum Brandy, Red Wine, Secret Spices (Served Hot)).

The Florentine

The bar at The Florentine

The Florentine is a sleek Italian restaurant hidden within the JW Marriott. Order the Grande Mela if you’re craving a spiked cider, or splurge for the Bianco Russo with Bacardi 8, Kahlua, and Gingerbread cream. Yum! Or pass on the figgy pudding for dessert and instead opt for the Fig Yores (think margarita with fig preserves).

It doesn’t matter what holiday you celebrate, the holiday season is about spending time with the ones you love. And everyone can enjoy fun, festive cocktails, so invite your friends and family out to one of these fabulous venues and spend time catching up!
