Find me on:

As we start to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall (although we still have some time before the cold weather hits), we embark on Alumni event season. Many colleges host Alumni events at the beginning of the semester to welcome new students with the folks that have graduated before them.

Because of the large guest list, Alumni events can be hard to plan. In cities like New York, finding a venue with enough space to fit a large guest count is quite the challenge. To help ease your way into the planning stages of these events, we are providing you with venues for Alumni events and large parties.

Hawthorn - San Francisco

The main lounge at Hawthorn

Hawthorn is a fun and unique venue that will impress graduates and incoming students! The main space is private and can accommodate up to 250 guests. Sip on craft cocktails while you network or sit back and relax on one of their many lounge couches. Hawthorn's 1930's Hollywood decor will set the mood for an evening of catching up and discussing the "good ole days."

Split-Rail - Chicago

A long table set for dinner at Split-Rail

Everyone loves going to a new venue and I'm sure your Alumni are no different. A new addition to Chicago, Split-Rail is making a name for itself. Renting out the entire space (a full buyout) provides enough space for 125 guests. The intimate space fosters conversation and the delicious "New Americana" food will keep guests talking way after the event.

The Attic - NYC

The rooftop at The Attic

If you're having a late summer Alumni event, you can still enjoy the beautiful weather on the rooftop at The Attic. Located in the penthouse of the Hilton Garden Hotel, this midtown sweet spot is easy to get to for all of your guests. The rooftop can hold up to 400; but if that isn't for you, the lounge is the next best thing! Regardless of the floor, you can take in the city views all night long.

Roofers Union - DC

Empty chairs, tables and bar at Jug and Table

If you're looking for variety, Roofers Union has three floors of endless possibilities. Looking for a large space with a restaurant feel? Try the Main Dining Room. If it's more of a small gathering (like one of those schools with 100 kids per class), try Jug and Table, the first floor wine bar. Whatever the vibe, you'll have a wonderful time at Roofers Union.

Alumni events are hard, but hopefully some of our suggestions made things a little bit easier. Enjoy hanging out with some of those college kids you really hated.
