The World of WhirlyBall

Find me on:

At a certain point, the typical private dinner or happy hour can get played out. You end up visiting a handful of the same bars, you get drinks for free, you head home. To me, that's a little boring. If you live in Chicago and you're ready for a corporate event change, it's time to enter the world of WhirlyBall.

WTF is WhirlyBall?

WhirlyBall is the name of a venue in Chicago (with additional locations in Lombard and Vernon Hills), but it is also the name of the game played at the location.

How Does WhirlyBall Work?

You have two teams of 5 people each, and every person sits in a bumper car type of buggie. Both teams play on a court the size of a basketball court and use a wiffle ball and a scoop. The point of the game is to throw the ball at the hoop and hit the target that will make an obnoxious sound. If that was all really complicated, watch their personal video here

Why Should I Go?

You should go because the typical dinner is overrated and your team/coworkers need a good laugh. Experiences are becoming very popular in for corporate events, and this is definitely an experience. Plus, a little friendly competition is good every now and then. If you really want to take this event to the next level, make a company bracket and start a WhirlyBall tournament! Winning team gets a free lunch!

If this particular game is not a good fit for you or your team WhirlyBall (the venue, not the game) also has bowling and lasertag. There is something for everybody at this Chicago location!
