Tips for your March Madness Party
Now that the Super Bowl is behind us, we can focus on more important things: March Madness. Any party is a good one, but these tips will really make your March Madness party one for the books. Here's what I got:
1. Include a Bracket
Create a bracket so you have an excuse to be competitive over things you don't actually care about. It also connects party-goers that might not be as invested with the rest of the party people. There are a bunch of sites like Challonge that make it easy to create brackets!
2. Check your Streaming Sites
If you don't have cable and you're streaming the game, make sure everything is working before your guests arrive. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to get your streaming service to work while all these people are in your home expecting to watch the big game. I say this from experience....
3. Create a Specialty Cocktail
Instead of buying a variety of alcohol types, it might be cheaper to stick to a specialty cocktail. If you're favorite team is playing, you can theme the drink. If not, CheatSheet has a few that you can try out.
4. Spice Things up with Decorations
Everyone can appreciate a few decorations to set the mood. No need to go wild with it -- a banner and some wall decorations will be just fine. If everyone is rooting for different teams, stick to the classic orange and black.
5. Take it Easy with the Food
The food is the hardest part to plan for any party. To maximize money, try to serve dishes that are cheap to make and feed a lot of people. This is a great time to whip out the crockpot (here are some options)! Additionally, try to make foods that can be prepared ahead of time so you're not too stressed out on game day.
Use these tips to throw a big bash this March Madness. If your team goes far, maybe you'll host a few parties. If reading this article made you not want to host a party at your home, host it at one of our awesome bars (here are some suggestions)!
